Job Description

Amazon opened its virtual doors in 1995 and strives to be the world's most customer-centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online.
Want to work in one of the fastest growing and most innovative businesses at Amazon? Interested in working in a high impact role? Come and join our Kindle team and help define the course of a revolutionary reading device. Kindle wirelessly downloads books, magazines, newspapers, and personal documents to a crisp, high-resolution electronic ink display that looks and reads like real paper.
The Kindle team at Amazon is looking for an innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Manager to run our Technical Account Management (TAM) Team in EU. This role is responsible for enabling a seamless operational flow of Kindle book content and metadata through the digital supply chain, from publishers and content providers, through to Kindle book consumers.
The position is based in Amazon's EU Headquarters in the vibrant city of Luxembourg.
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a diverse and multicultural country located in the heart of Europe, bordered by France, Belgium and Germany, with a total population of around half a million. Luxembourg has Luxembourgish, French and German as national languages, with English spoken by the many expatriates and most locals. Luxembourg is known for banking, steel and a number of EU institutions plus an increasing number of technology-centric organizations. Luxembourg boasts a rich cultural scene and a high standard of living.

TAMs own the operational relationship with managed Kindle book publishers and content providers, coordinating internal and external stakeholders to drive end-to-end efficiency integrating digital book content into Amazon systems. TAMs have direct daily contact with publishers and work side-by-side with internal business teams to acquire and ingest content for the Kindle store, including training, onboarding, coordinating, trouble-shooting, file creation and submission, content ingestion, technical support, and quality. The Senior Manager role will lead this team and coordinate with groups in US and Asia, implementing operational strategy and best practices to establish consistency and excellence across Kindle content operations.
The successful candidate will have experience in people management as well as digital media distribution systems and processes, metadata feeds, digital file formats, delivery platforms, and be able to coordinate credibly with business, technical, and legal teams. He or she will have demonstrated ownership and independence, ability to build and maintain strategic working relationships, an excellent command of process improvement and standard operational principles, and must appreciate the challenge of difficult problems in a fast-paced, goal-focused environment.
The successful candidate will:

  • Understand the EU content market and drive for business, operational, and technical solutions and prioritization using ROI analysis and business cases
  • Manage a growing team of TAMs, continuing to drive consistency and excellence in content operations globally
  • Define and oversee a wide range of projects designed to improve Amazon's ability to absorb wide ranges of content and improve the experience of publishers and content owners
  • Leverage relationships, automation, analytics, and new technology to improve cycle time, throughput, and yield of Kindle titles from ingestion through distribution
  • Explore, evaluate, and implement new technology and solutions strategies

Specialist Experience

  • 10+ years of direct management experience
  • Extensive experience in digital media distribution and integration
  • Experience managing cross-functional products, programs, or projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relationship-building, and the ability to influence other teams to meet goals
  • Demonstrated leadership in a production or distribution environment, with hands-on operational experience, and success in a metrics-driven culture.
  • A passion for books and publishing industry experience is a big plus
  • Knowledge of one or more European languages a strong plus
  • MBA preferred
