Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara Campus. He earned his Master of Science and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Established in 1908, this department hosted the world’s first industrial engineering program and is renowned for its tradition of excellence and innovation in research, education, and outreach.

During his doctoral studies, Dr. Mendoza received the prestigious Ridg-U-Rak Scholarship from the Material Handling Education Foundation for his outstanding academic performance.

In 2014, Dr. Mendoza completed the Innovación para la Alta Dirección (INNOVAD) program, and in 2021, he completed the Alta Dirección Regional (AD-Regional) program, both at the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresas (IPADE). Additionally, he pursued studies in Leadership Development through Harvard Business School’s Authentic Leader Development program.

Dr. Mendoza has been part of Universidad Panamericana since 2000, serving in various leadership roles. At the Guadalajara Campus, he served as Director of the Industrial Engineering program from 2008 to 2011 and as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering from 2011 to 2015. At the corporate level, he held the position of Vice President for Research from 2015 to 2024. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Board of Universidad Panamericana and IPADE.

Dr. Mendoza has professional experience as an operations consultant for industry. He is a founding member of the Mexican Association of Logistics and Supply Chain (Asociación Mexicana de Logística y Cadena de Suministro, A.C.), established in 2012.

Above all, Dr. Mendoza has remained deeply committed to his two lifelong passions: teaching and research. He is a Full Professor, category D, the highest rank within the institution’s Faculty Model, and a Level 1 Researcher in Mexico’s National System of Researchers (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, SNI), endorsed by the National Council of Humanities, Science, and Technology (CONAHCYT).

As a researcher, Dr. Mendoza has published extensively in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. His contributions can be found in prestigious journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Business and Systems Research, and the International Journal of Industrial Engineering. His research interests include supply chain logistics, operations management, transportation, facility design, and materials handling.

He is a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). Additionally, he has served as a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions, including the Department of Information, Risk & Operations Management at McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin, and the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University.

In 2015, Dr. Mendoza was recognized as Industrial Engineer of the Year by the Institute of Industrial Engineers of Mexico. In 2016, he received the “Manuel López Cotilla” Award from Jaltec for his distinguished career in education and his contributions to strengthening relationships between businesses, universities, and government. In 2017, he was honored with the Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Award by the Society of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers at The Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Mendoza has been married to his wife, Marisol, for 23 years and is the proud father of six children: Abraham, Santiago, Josemaría, Emilio, Ana Paula, and Mateo.

Notably, Dr. Mendoza is the first alumnus of Universidad Panamericana’s Guadalajara Campus to assume the role of Rector.
