Angélica Careaga studied her BA in Education at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City. She pursued her Master of Arts in Education at the University of Louisville as a LASPAU-Fulbright scholar. She has more than 20 years of experience working in the international area of the Higher Education sector in Mexico, with Latin America and the United States (first working at Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, UNAM and the University of New Mexico) and 17 years working with the British Council in Mexico and Latin America. Her experience has been primarily in defining strategies in internationalization, promoting international collaboration, through student and academic mobility with the purpose of enhancing educational programs, research and students ‘experience for their professional life. Her experience working with the LA region and fundraising for NGOs gave her the opportunity to become the Executive Director of CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Latin America in 2016. Since then, she has actively been involved in supporting HE institutions in the region building their capacity in the new profession of Advancement (Fundraising, Alumni Relations and Communications and Marketing) to enable institutions to reach their goals and missions transforming lives and society, as well as promoting institutional sustainability.
