Your professional journey
My professional journey has been driven by a commitment to expanding access to quality higher education. Having experienced the transformative impact of international education firsthand, I developed a strong interest in helping students navigate the complexities of studying abroad.
Over the years, I have worked closely with students, parents, schools, and university partners, supporting them through every stage of the recruitment journey from initial counselling and university selection to application guidance and enrolment. This experience has given me valuable insights into student decision making and the evolving needs of universities seeking sustainable growth in African markets.
Today, I am passionate about building meaningful partnerships between institutions and prospective students while helping universities develop effective strategies for engagement and recruitment across the region.
Your local market expertise
The market continues to experience significant growth, driven by a youthful population, increasing access to information, and rising aspirations for international education. The key opportunities include the growing demand for specialised programmes in business, technology, healthcare, and leadership. However, affordability, visa concerns, and currency fluctuations remain important considerations that influence decision-making. There is also increasing competition as students compare options across multiple destinations, including the UK, Canada, Australia, the United States, and emerging study destinations.
Acting on behalf of universities
Building trust is central to representing universities effectively. I ensure that every engagement reflects the institution's values, strengths, and strategic priorities.
I support university partners through market insight, student engagement activities, school outreach, recruitment events, and ongoing relationship management. By providing feedback directly from students and stakeholders, I help institutions better understand local market dynamics and adapt their approach accordingly.
This collaborative approach has helped increase brand visibility, strengthen student pipelines, and improve conversion rates while ensuring prospective students receive accurate and timely guidance throughout their journey.
Your personal strengths
Working across diverse markets requires a combination of empathy, adaptability, and strategic insight. My ability to understand student motivations while balancing institutional objectives allows me to build strong relationships with both students and university partners.
Having lived and worked within the region, I bring valuable cultural understanding and market knowledge that helps bridge the gap between institutions and prospective students. I am also highly organised, collaborative, and committed to delivering results through a student-centred approach.
Purpose and motivation
I enjoy helping students make informed decisions that positively shape their future and create opportunities that may otherwise have seemed out of reach. I recall supporting a student who faced significant financial and personal challenges but remained determined to pursue international education. Through guidance on university selection, scholarships, and application etc, the student secured admission and funding support. Seeing them successfully begin their studies abroad reinforced why this work is so meaningful.
Staying current and credible
I regularly engage with higher education reports, sector research, QS insights, university training programmes, industry webinars, recruitment conferences, and professional networks. I also maintain close relationships with schools, counsellors, students, and alumni, which provides valuable real-time insight into emerging trends and student preferences.
Personal dimension
Outside work, I enjoy mentoring young professionals and supporting initiatives that promote educational access and leadership development. I also enjoy travelling and exploring new places.
QS – RRS Impact
Being part of the QS Regional Recruitment Services model enables me to operate as a true extension of the institutions I represent rather than simply serving as an external recruitment contact.
The RRS model provides deeper integration with university teams, allowing me to deliver strategic market intelligence, student insights, and relationship-building activities that directly support institutional objectives. This embedded approach creates stronger alignment, more authentic representation, and greater responsiveness to local market needs.
What feels fundamentally different is the ability to combine local expertise with global resources, creating a more informed, data-driven, and student-centred recruitment strategy that benefits both institutions and prospective students.
QS Advantage
Working within the QS ecosystem significantly enhances the value I can provide to university partners.
Access to QS data, research, global networks, market intelligence, and strategic expertise enables me to engage with institutions from a position of insight rather than assumption. These resources help identify emerging opportunities, understand changing student behaviour, and inform more effective recruitment strategies.
The combination of local market knowledge and global intelligence allows me to deliver informed recommendations, support institutional decision-making, and contribute to sustainable recruitment growth across the region.
Your advice to universities
Success in Sub-Saharan Africa requires more than visibility; it requires meaningful engagement.
Universities that achieve sustainable growth are those that invest in understanding the local context, communicate clearly with students and families, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to student success. Affordability, employability, student support, and cultural inclusion are increasingly important considerations.
Institutions that listen to market feedback, adapt their strategies, and build authentic relationships with stakeholders will be best positioned to attract and support future generations of internationally mobile students.
