Daniel L. Friedman is a dynamic leader at the intersection of educational technology and the arts. As Director of Educational Technology and Grants for Hicksville Public Schools, he supports over 5,200 students and 1,000 staff through transformative initiatives. His leadership has helped to modernize instruction, improved digital literacy and advanced cybersecurity, including oversight of infrastructure upgrades and data privacy as the district’s Data Protection Officer.
Previously, Dan served as a music teacher and Supervisor of Fine and Performing Arts, where he led K–12 arts programs and launched innovative initiatives like a model digital photography program. He also supervised instructional technology, professional development, and districtwide tech integration. Dan is a founding member and leader of NYSAIC, the New York State Artificial Intelligence Consortium.
Dan’s current research explores the intersection of identity and data stewardship, focusing on the essential question, “Who owns the right to your identity?” His work bridges human insight with machine learning to enhance educational outcomes.
