Dr. Asima Vezina is President and Vice-Chancellor of International Business University (IBU), Canada’s first independent not-for-profit university dedicated exclusively to business education.
With more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning higher education, government, and public administration, she is recognized for advancing innovative, industry-aligned learning models that prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving global workforce. Her leadership and impact on business, innovation, and community development have been recognized through the Brampton Business Person of the Year Award and the Entrepreneurship Leadership Award from the Network of Nigerians in Canada.
At IBU, Dr. Vezina is currently leading the development of an industry-readiness, skills-focused business education model designed to prepare graduates for the future of work. The university’s curriculum is being structured around three core competency domains: core human skills; higher cognitive skills; and AI and digital skills. This integrated approach to her leadership at IBU reflects the growing global shift toward skills-first education systems that align curriculum, employers, and workforce needs—an approach central to the agenda of the QS Global Skills Summit.
Dr. Vezina is also a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, recognizing her contributions to education, leadership, and community impact.
