Ph.D. Friné Velázquez Contreras is a Research Professor at the School of Hospitality at Universidad Panamericana (Guadalajara, Mexico) and a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII). With over two decades of experience bridging higher education, scientific research, and industrial innovation, she is a recognized expert in food science, sustainable packaging, and technology transfer.
She holds a Ph.D. in Health Sciences (Summa Cum Laude) from the Catholic University of Murcia (Spain)—specializing in active biodegradable packaging and molecular encapsulation—as well as executive leadership credentials from IPADE Business School.
As former Dean of the School of Hospitality at Universidad Panamericana and a former R&D executive in the nutraceutical industry, Dr. Velázquez has dedicated her career to strengthening university-industry collaboration, modernizing research infrastructure, and translating laboratory discoveries into commercial, eco-friendly solutions. An international speaker and advocate for academic innovation, her work focuses on functional foods, circular economy strategies, and building ecosystems that turn academic research into economic and social value.
