Dr. Pamir Alpay is Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Connecticut, where he serves as chief academic officer overseeing academic programs, faculty affairs, and strategic initiatives across UConn’s campuses. He previously served as Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, leading a $375 million research enterprise and advancing UConn’s national leadership in key areas of science and technology.
A Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor of materials science and engineering and physics, Dr. Alpay is an accomplished researcher whose work spans materials science, condensed matter physics, and surface chemistry. He has secured more than $45 million in research funding and has authored over 200 publications. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, ASM International, and the American Ceramic Society, and a member of the Connecticut Academy of Science & Engineering.
