Francisco Xavier Orendáin De Obeso

Francisco Xavier Orendáin De Obeso, Eng., is a businessman and civil engineer from Guadalajara. He graduated from Universidad Panamericana and completed executive education programs at IPADE Business School and Columbia Business School. Currently, he serves as the CEO of GMX Impulsora de Empresas, a family holding company dedicated to real estate development and construction, utilizing a technology-driven approach centered on the individual and the common good. In the trade association sphere, he chaired the Board of Directors of the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) from 2018 to 2020, following his tenure as Vice President of Committees and Representations from 2015 to 2017. In this role, he led containment efforts and the initial phases of economic reopening during the COVID-19 crisis. Driven by a sense of service due to the pandemic's impact on Jalisco, he transitioned to the public sector, serving as the State's General Strategic Coordinator of Growth and Economic Development from 2021 to December 2024. Under his leadership, Jalisco fully recovered pandemic-related job losses, ranked first nationally in formal job creation (2022) and new employer registration (2023), launched the Jalisco Tech Hub Act to attract semiconductor talent, and achieved historic records in Foreign Direct Investment and exports, becoming Mexico's second-highest exporting non-border state. On a civic and institutional level, he coordinates the Pact for Integrity and Well-Being of Jalisco and is a board member for the Guadalajara Zoo, as well as the governing boards of El Colegio de Jalisco and the UDG Foundation. Additionally, he serves his community as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
