Jill Barshay

Jill Barshay is an education journalist at The Hechinger Report, where she writes the weekly Proof Points column and newsletter,translating education research and data into accessible insights for educators and the public. A former foreign correspondent and business reporter, she has worked for public radio's Marketplace, The Wall Street Journal (Asia), The New York Times and the Financial Times.Her reporting on education research has earned honors from the American Educational Research Association and the Education Writers Association. She holds degrees from Brown University, the London School of Economics, and Columbia University, and once taught ninth-grade algebra.
