Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes has served as Secretary of Education of the state of Jalisco since 2018. He holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from Universidad de Guadalajara. He graduated from Pedagogics Superior Studies at Universidad Panamericana and received an MBA from Institute of Senior Business Management (IPADE) and a Diploma in Management of Educational Centers from the Management Training and Improvement Center (ICAMI). He has served as a teacher, a committed civil servant, and an enthusiastic STEAM education promoter for more than two decades. He is also a proud family man.
His strategic vision and dynamism have guided his career path. At Universidad Panamericana he held the position of Director of Mechatronic Engineering Program. Earlier at the Secretariat of Education he was appointed to the position of General Director of Higher Education, as well as General Director of the Technological Education System. Later, he presided over the General Directors Association and was the General Director of Altamira private School.
Due to his academic training and extensive professional experience, he has developed an expert profile in the public and private education sector. An example of this is the implementation of the project: Educacion Al Estilo Jalisco. The project brings together different strategies, encourages students and teachers' development as agents of change, while joining the efforts of parents, academia, civil society organizations and enterprises to transform Jalisco through education.
Juan Carlos has always been enthusiastic about innovation and impassioned by new technologies, therefore in order to face the health crisis facilitating communication, management of procedures and services for all the education community members, he promoted the use of free digital platforms and tools, as well as free access to courses, workshops, virtual classrooms, conferences and online lessons related to robotics, programming, computing, socio-emotional education robotics, programming, computing, socio-emotional education, curricular autonomy, languages, communication, mathematics, science, arts, and technologies.
