Professor Michele Acuto is Vice President for Global Engagement at the University of Bristol, where he leads the University's international strategy, partnerships and student recruitment across the globe. He is also Professor of Urban Resilience in Bristol's School of Geographical Sciences.


Michele joined Bristol in 2024 from the University of Melbourne, where he directed the Melbourne Centre for Cities, and has previously held academic leadership roles at University College London, the Australian National University and the University of Oxford. Alongside his academic career, he has advised the World Bank, the World Health Organization and the European Commission on urban policy and international diplomacy.


He is the author of Leading Cities (2019), Managing Cities at Night (2021) and How to Build a Global City (2022), and holds a PhD from the Australian National University.
