Prof Ali M. Masmali

Prof. Ali M. Masmali is the Acting President of King Saud University (KSU) and a Professor of Optometry in the College of Applied Medical Sciences. He earned his BSc in Optometry and Vision Sciences from King Saud University in 2001 and his PhD in Tear Film and Dry Eye from Cardiff University, Wales, United Kingdom, in 2010. His academic and research expertise focuses on clinical optometry, tear film, dry eye, corneal research, and vision sciences. He has served as a researcher and visiting researcher at Cardiff University's eye and contact lens research center and has contributed to specialized research and peer review in ophthalmology and optometry. At King Saud University, Prof. Masmali has held several academic and leadership positions, including Head of the Vision Realization Office, Director of the Cornea Research Chair, and Vice President for Planning and Development. In these roles, he has contributed to institutional planning, development, performance improvement, and strategic transformation. As Acting President, he leads KSU's efforts to advance academic excellence, research and innovation, institutional effectiveness, local and international partnerships, and alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
