Professor Anthony Cahalan is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global) at Macquarie University. He has more than 40 years of professional experience in higher education and the creative industries, having been informed by multicultural perspectives from living and working in Australia, South-East Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
After international leadership roles in Oman (inaugural Vice-Chancellor of Muscat University) and Malaysia (Deputy Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak), he led Study Group's private pathway colleges at six universities in Australia and New Zealand. He is a former Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales and Dean of the Faculty of Design at OCAD University in Toronto, Canada.
Professor Cahalan has a bachelor and master’s degrees in graphic design from the University of Technology Sydney and a PhD in typography from Curtin University in Western Australia.
