Prof Dr Hasan Mandal

Prof Dr Hasan Mandal is Rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and holds a Ph.D. in Ceramic Materials from Newcastle University.

Prof Dr Hasan Mandal is Rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and holds a Ph.D. in Ceramic Materials from Newcastle University. He graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) and has held academic and research positions in Türkiye and abroad, including postdoctoral work in the UK and Germany.

He has extensive experience across academia and public service, with a focus on materials science, research policy, and innovation systems. He has authored over 140 publications and holds several patents.

Prof. Mandal has held senior leadership roles, including President of TÜBİTAK and membership in the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). He currently serves as Vice President of the Presidential Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation Policies. Internationally, he is Chairperson of the UN Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries (UNTB) and President of WAITRO.
