Prof. Dr. José M. Martínez-Sierra is Director General and Provost at UPF Barcelona School of Management, Director of its Master in Public and Social Policies, and Director of the FC Barcelona Chair on Strategic Governance. He holds a Jean Monnet ad personam Chair in European Union Law and serves on several academic and business boards, including Valencia Technical University Business School, Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, the University of Zagreb, Galgotias University School of Management, the Centre for Innovation in Data Technology and Artificial Intelligence, and, as Faculty Advisor, the Blockchain and Fintech Initiative at Harvard Law School. He is also an Expert Delegate in Artificial Intelligence at the Digital Education Council and International Arbitrator at the Shanghai International Arbitration Center.
Before his current role, he spent a decade at Harvard University, where he was recognized for teaching excellence and by the U.S. Government for his extraordinary professional ability. Earlier, he served as Director General for International Relations at the Spanish Ministry of Education and Director General of the Agency for the Internationalization of Spanish Universities. He was President of the European Union High-Level Group on Education and Training Policies, Chair of the EU Education Committee, Member of the Fulbright Commission and the OECD Education Policy Committee, and Higher Education Representative at UNESCO.
