Prof Fidèle Nyimi Bushabu

Prof Fidèle Nyimi Bushabu is the Director of the National Center for Research in Dental Sciences under the Ministry of Higher and University Education, Scientific Research and Innovation of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Prof Nyimi also serves as Regional Head of Cooperation and International Relations at the University of Kinshasa, where he is responsible for the development, coordination, and monitoring of academic cooperation with institutions in Asia, Australia, the Near and Middle East, and Eastern Europe.

Prof Nyimi is the Focal Point of the University of Kinshasa for the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and a member of the Permanent Committee on Scholarships and Academic Mobility within IUCEA. In addition, is the Vice-Dean in charge of Education, Research, and Specialization at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Kinshasa, and serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Clinics of Kinshasa. Prof NYIMI is the coordinator Teaching of the Preclinical Laboratory of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Professor Dr Hubert NTUMBA MULUMBA, and the founder and President of the Congolese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (SOC-COM).

He obtained his PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Head and Neck Oncology from the College and Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University (China) in 2019. Before this, he earned a Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Jiamusi University, Heilongjiang Province, China (2013–2016). He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Dental Medicine at the University of Kinshasa in 2008, after which he joined the academic staff of the University of Kinshasa and the University Clinics of Kinshasa.

As a Full Professor, Prof Nyimi is actively involved in teaching and academic supervision, and regularly supervises Master’s and PhD students in the fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral oncology, and related biomedical sciences. His research interests included the prevention and treatment of oral and maxillofacial head and neck tumors, oral cancer, oral and maxillofacial trauma, cystic lesions of the jaws, congenital and acquired vascular malformations, and reconstructive surgery of maxillofacial defects. He is a recognized expert in oral oncology and maxillofacial pathology and has delivered numerous invited lectures and presentations at international scientific conferences worldwide.

Following the completion of his PhD, Prof Nyimi returned to the University Clinics of Kinshasa, where he continues his clinical, teaching, and research activities within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has played a key role in establishing and strengthening international academic partnerships between the University of Kinshasa and several institutions, including Wuhan University School of Stomatology, Yangtze University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, as well as multiple universities in Japan, Morocco, Africa, and other regions.

Prof Nyimi has authored and co-authored more than 60 scientific publications in the fields of oral oncology, maxillofacial traumatology, and oral pathology.
