Prof Gurpreet Jagpal

Professor Gurpreet Singh Jagpal OBE is an accomplished university executive and institutional leader with over two decades of experience shaping higher education strategy, culture and impact across the UK and internationally. His career spans senior academic leadership, enterprise and innovation, international development, student recruitment and employability, with a consistent focus on widening participation, workforce relevance and civic contribution. He currently serves as Chief Commercial Officer at Aston University, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and sitting on the University Executive.

As Chief Commercial Officer at Aston University, Gurpreet leads a large, multi-disciplinary portfolio encompassing marketing, communications and student recruitment; international recruitment and development, including transnational education and global partnerships; alumni relations and development; and business development and knowledge exchange. In this role, he has played a central part in reshaping the University’s growth strategy, establishing new governance and delivery structures, and embedding a data-led, collaborative culture across academic and professional services teams.
