Prof Alsharairi currently serves as President of Yarmouk University (second oldest and a comprehensive university with 40k students distributed over a wide spectrum of programs in 17 faculties) one of Jordan’s leading public universities, where he leads institutional modernization, governance reform, academic quality enhancement, and international engagement.
Prior to this role, he served as Vice President of the German Jordanian University, a bi-national institution, where he successfully led large-scale organizational restructuring, academic integration, and the establishment of innovation- and entrepreneurship- focused academic units, strengthening the university’s international positioning and operational efficiency.
Prof Alsharairi brings extensive experience in strategic planning, regulatory governance, financial management, and international partnerships, having overseen the development of new academic programs, accreditation processes, and cross-border collaborations with Arab, Asian, European and global institutions. He has played a key role in strengthening institutional transparency, quality assurance frameworks, and performance-driven management systems within higher education.
At the national level, Prof Alsharairi served on several high-level committees related to foreign certificate equivalency, higher education accreditation, financial policy, labor market alignment, and educational reform, contributing to policy development and system-wide quality enhancement in Jordan. His academic background includes a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Durham University (UK), and he is an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. He has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals in the areas of governance, finance, sustainability, and innovation.
Prof Alsharairi actively promotes international cooperation, hosted programs, student and faculty mobility, joint research initiatives, and industry engagement, aligning higher education outcomes with market needs and global standards. His leadership vision centers on advancing future-ready universities, fostering sustainable partnerships, and aligning higher education outcomes with global standards and economic development priorities.
