Professor Maree Thyne is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce) and Dean of the Otago Business School at the University of Otago, and a member of the University’s Senior Leadership Team and Senate. She served as President of the Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) in 2025 and is a Board member of Business South (Chamber of Commerce).
Maree is an internationally recognised expert in consumer behaviour, with a particular focus on tourism and cruise markets. Her research has informed industry and policy stakeholders including Cruise New Zealand, port authorities, and regional tourism organisations.
A strong advocate for industry-connected education, Maree has led initiatives that integrate real-world business challenges into the curriculum, enhancing student learning and impact. Her leadership continues to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, with a focus on innovation, relevance, and regional development.
