Professor Yang O-Bong is the 19th President of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), a leading national university in the Republic of Korea. Since taking office in 2023, he has led JBNU’s transformation into an artificial intelligence- and data-driven institution, securing more than $0.72 billion in major national projects. He is spearheading a large-scale physical AI initiative in partnership with leading universities and industry partners, including Hyundai Motor and NAVER. He also established the JBNU-Purdue Research Institute (JPRI) to expand global research collaboration and has advanced AI-based education and innovation initiatives. His vision is to position JBNU among the world’s top 100 universities.
