Professor Vanessa Chang is Dean, Curtin Business School and Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. She is Professor in Information Systems and she has held various senior leadership positions at Curtin University including Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Teaching and Learning, Head of School of Information Systems, and Director of Learning Innovations where she led project teams to develop Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as well as leading transformational IT projects.
Vanessa is an accomplished scholar and a thought leader in leadership in higher education. With an innovative mindset, she brings strong business acumen and vision to advance higher education institutions offering world-class education with engaging student experience, responsible practice-led research, and strong industry connections in a global context.
Vanessa is a member of the University Senior Executive Team. She also holds several non-Executive Director roles on a range of boards and is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society. She conducts research in IT and data governance, as well as in educational research on immersive and online learning. She has developed the Web-based Learning environment instrument that is widely adopted by researchers and institutions in 12 countries and translated into multiple languages.
