Your professional journey

After completing both my undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Manchester in the UK, I began my career in consulting, supporting businesses of varying sizes while also assisting family and friends with their study‑abroad journeys. After over two years in consulting, I chose to pursue my passion for student recruitment, securing my first role in the field and have now built several years of experience in student recruitment.

Your local market expertise

In Sub-Saharan Africa, there is a huge demand for international education, making studying abroad a highly desired option. Students from SSA are some of the most highly mobile students actively pursuing higher education abroad. The UK remains a leading destination, alongside the United States, France, Australia, Canada, and Germany. Popular fields of study include Health Care & Medicine, Computer Science & IT, Engineering, and Business.

Challenges in this market include steep currency depreciation, complex visa requirements, and cultural adjustment. Despite these challenges, international education remains highly sought after due to overcrowded local universities and the desire for top quality education.

Understanding students

Students from the SSA region aspire to study abroad to access world‑class education and enhance their prospects of securing top‑tier jobs after graduation. They also value the opportunity to acquire substantial work experience in their chosen destination, thereby enhancing employability. Return on investment remains a decisive factor, with affordability, post‑study work opportunities, and educational quality serving as critical determinants in their decision‑making process.

Personal strengths

I possess interpersonal skills that facilitate effective communication with students, parents, counsellors, and industry stakeholders. My communication abilities enable me to deliver key information to students in a clear and concise manner, supporting their academic journey to the UK. Furthermore, my enthusiasm for data and data analysis enhances my understanding of the market, allowing me to design strategies that strengthen recruitment. My marketing skills also play a pivotal role in ensuring the institution I represent distinguishes itself within a competitive landscape

Purpose and motivation

I feel deeply fulfilled when guiding students and helping them discover their career paths. It brings me joy to know that the support we provide empowers them to achieve their lifelong goals and navigate the right channels with confidence.

Staying current and credible

To stay current in the SSA market, I attend regional events organised by BUILA, the British Council, and partners such as NCUK. I also monitor HESA statistics to identify key players and emerging markets worth exploring. Furthermore, I obtain direct market intelligence through interactions with agent partners and students during visits and events. These efforts play a significant role in guiding decisions that ensure the market continues to grow successfully and sustainably.

Personal dimension

In my personal time, I like to expand my knowledge by engaging in reading and short courses, as well as watching films that broaden my understanding of cultural diversity and social interaction. This commitment to continuous learning ensures I remain current and well‑informed. I am especially keen to explore the potential impact of AI on my professional responsibilities and how technological progress can enhance efficiency.
