Balázs Hankó graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Semmelweis University of Medicine, where he obtained his PhD degree summa cum laude in 2005.
He started as a pharmacist at Semmelweis University, later becoming Head of Department and Chief Pharmacist, and then Deputy Rector for Strategy and Development. In addition to management and organisational development, he has two decades of teaching experience, in was awarded the title of university professor in 2023.
From 2020 to 2022, he was the Deputy State Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, then Deputy State Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, and from December 2022, State Secretary for Higher Education, Innovation, Vocational Education and Training and Adult Learning.
From 1 July 2024, he is the Minister of Culture and Innovation.
