Benjamin Hescott

Benjamin Hescott is the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Student Experience at Northeastern’s Khoury College of Computer Sciences. He oversees the college curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as the student services teams at the college. Passionate about experiential education, Ben's work focuses on bridging the gap between industry and academia. He has led and co-led many university initiatives for broadening the ways students engage with industry partners, from practicum courses to a recently created co-op consulting model. Ben’s research interests include computational complexity, approximation algorithms, and computational biology. He helped create a new metric of “closeness” for popular biological models. This work was used in the Dream Challenge for Disease Module Identification and received the “Best Performer” award. Ben is the recipient of multiple teaching awards, highlighting his commitment to student success at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
