As Dean of the SCAD School of Animation and Motion, Dan Bartlett integrates emerging technologies into higher education curricula across the university's renowned animation, motion media design, and visual effects programs. With academic leadership experience at SCAD and previously at the University of the Arts London and South Essex College, he has guided the creation of innovative undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including graduate degrees in 3D computer animation, visual effects, and virtual reality. His work emphasizes industry relevance, technological fluency, and the development of creative pipelines that prepare students for rapidly evolving professional environments. At SCAD, Bartlett has overseen the recent launch of the university's applied AI degree program and the creation of virtual production facilities at SCAD Film Studios Savannah, expanding opportunities for advanced real-time filmmaking and immersive storytelling. Beyond academic leadership, his current research explores how emergent technologies influence cinematic design principles, visual development practices, and new modes of immersive narrative experience.
