Iris studied Geography at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the University of Leeds (UK). She holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Development Studies from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard University’s Real Colegio Complutense.
Currently, she serves as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Research at Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX) and volunteers as a member of the Management Board of UNICEF Comité Madrid, the United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
With over 25 years of experience in university administration, Iris has worked across a wide range of academic and organizational areas. Her career has fostered strong competencies in student recruitment, advising and retention; international development; strategic planning; budgeting and reporting; staff supervision and faculty relations; curricular and co-curricular programming; and marketing and external relations.
Combining extensive experience in international education with strong academic credentials, Iris brings a unique and forward-looking perspective to the challenges of today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape.
