Your professional journey
I entered the international education industry 15 years ago after attending an agency fair at a hotel. I began by leading marketing for an Australian agency, which sparked my passion for learning about international education systems across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, and Canada — eventually becoming my area of expertise.
Throughout my career, I have focused on growing across different areas of international education rather than limiting myself to a university-specific role. One of the most influential experiences was working as Head of Career Guidance at an International Baccalaureate school, where I gained broader exposure to global universities, admissions processes, and student counselling.
Despite exploring various aspects of the sector, I found myself naturally drawn back to the Canadian higher education landscape, which remains the area I am most passionate about.
Your local market expertise
The recruitment market is evolving rapidly, driven by the growth of new study destinations, twinning programmes, transnational education opportunities, and satellite campuses. This has made student counselling more dynamic and increasingly strategic.
Recent changes within the Canadian higher education landscape and visa policies have also encouraged a more consultative and student-focused approach. While the market is highly competitive, it creates opportunities to emphasise the long-term value, quality, and global appeal that Canada continues to offer as a study destination.
Understanding students
Students are primarily motivated by post-study job opportunities, co-op and internship experiences during their studies, and the prospect of a better quality of life in Canada.
Personal strengths
Relationship-building has always been one of my greatest strengths. Long-standing connections with parents, school counsellors, and agents — many built over more than a decade — have played an important role in my success.
I strongly value collaboration and maintaining a student-first approach, which helps build trust and long-term partnerships across the sector.
Purpose and motivation
What excites me most is helping students create a clear roadmap toward achieving their goals — and sometimes even encouraging them to dream bigger for themselves.
Staying current and credible
I stay informed by regularly discussing market trends with industry colleagues and following higher education news through platforms such as ICEF Monitor, The PIE News, and Inside Higher Ed. I also actively engage with insights shared by experienced professionals and thought leaders on LinkedIn to stay connected with real-time industry developments.
Personal dimension
Outside of work, I am passionate about painting and enjoy working with watercolours, a
