Your professional journey
I began my journey as a counsellor, guiding students toward meaningful steps in achieving their study abroad aspirations. This experience later led me to work with the University of Lincoln in the UK, where I gained deeper exposure to international admissions and recruitment. I now continue this path at QS Quacquarelli Symonds, supporting Keck Graduate Institute in expanding its global student outreach.
My journey into international student recruitment is deeply personal. When I sought guidance for studying abroad, I was turned away — an experience that inspired me to ensure no student feels unsupported in their journey. This purpose continues to shape the way I support students today.
Your local market expertise
The Indian recruitment market is highly ROI-driven and increasingly informed, with students prioritising employability, affordability, and visa stability. At the same time, there is a growing shift toward diverse study destinations, making the market more dynamic and competitive.
Students are becoming increasingly digital-first, relying heavily on online research, peer reviews, social media, and authentic student experiences when making decisions. Institutions therefore need to focus on personalised engagement, transparency, and strong digital storytelling to remain competitive.
Understanding students
Students are primarily motivated by better career opportunities, migration pathways, access to high-quality education, and international exposure. Employability and global work experience remain major decision factors.
Their research process usually begins with rankings, websites, and social media before being validated through peers, alumni, and counsellors. Students are also highly influenced by visa policies, geopolitical developments, rising costs, safety concerns, and post-study job opportunities, making trusted guidance more important than ever.
Personal strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my genuine passion for counselling, which helps me build meaningful and trusted relationships with students. I focus on creating a comfortable environment where students feel confident sharing their goals, concerns, and aspirations.
My effectiveness also comes from combining counselling experience with strong market understanding, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to position university offerings in a way that is relevant to different student audiences and market needs.
Purpose and motivation
What I enjoy most is helping students take meaningful steps toward achieving their dreams and giving them the confidence to move forward with their future plans.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing former students continue to grow personally and professionally after studying abroad. Watching them overcome challenges, adapt to new environments, and achieve long-term success is incredibly fulfilling and reinforces the impact of the guidance and support provided throughout their journey.
Staying current and credible
I stay informed through industry reports, webinars, and insights from organisations such as QS, IDP, EducationUSA, and ICEF. I also maintain close relationships with agents, university partners, students, and industry colleagues to stay updated on real-time market trends and student behaviour.
Participating in education fairs, conferences, recruitment events, and training sessions also helps me remain agile, informed, and aligned with evolving market expectations.
Personal dimension
One of my passions outside of work is counselling and personal development. I strongly believe in empowering individuals through self-help tools and guidance that help them become more confident, self-aware, and capable of navigating life’s challenges independently.
