Professor Per Mickwitz serves as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Sustainability, and Campus Development at Lund University. He oversees research quality and leads the university's sustainability strategy, integrating sustainability across education, research, and engagement. As a professor of environmental policy, his research focuses on environmental and sustainability policy, policy evaluation, and the mechanisms behind innovation—particularly focusing on supporting system transitions toward sustainability. His extensive experience in the science-policy interface is a valuable asset in his role as chair of League of European Research Universities’ (LERU) Policy Group for Sustainability and on the board of the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).
Professor Mickwitz has held key roles at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), including research director for seven years. He was vice chair of the Academy of Finland's board (2019–2021), chaired the Strategic Research Council, and led the EEA Scientific Committee (2016–2022).
