Prof Qikun Xue

Qikun Xue became the third president of China’s Southern University of Science and Technology in 2020 after serving as Vice-President of Research at Tsinghua University in China for seven years. He joined Tsinghua as Professor of Physics in 2005 before becoming Chair of the Department of Physics and Dean of the School of Sciences. Dr Xue is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He is also Director of the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Physical Society and the recipient of awards including the Fritz London Memorial Prize in 2020, the Oliver E Buckley Condensed Matter Physics Prize in 2024 and China’s State Preeminent Science and Technology Award for 2023. Dr Xue has a PhD in physics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
