Professor Yonghua Song is the Rector (President) of the University of Macau and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City. He has held number of leadership positions at British and Chinese universities, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Brunel University, Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Liverpool, Assistant President of Tsinghua University and Executive Vice President of Zhejiang University. He is serving as Vice President of the China Association of Higher Education, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy, Vice President of the Chinese Educators Association of Macau and the President of Macao Association for Higher Education Development. Prof. Song is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), a member of Academia Europaea and IEEE fellow. He was awarded Honorary DSc/DEng by University of Edinburgh and University of Bath. In 2023, he was awarded the Medal of Merit – Education by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.
