Saule Zhakayeva is Citi Country Officer and Banking Head for Kazakhstan, a position she has held since 2021. She brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, including over two decades with Citi, where she has led corporate banking, transaction services, securities services, and client coverage businesses. Throughout her career, Saule has played a leading role in major financing, capital markets, trade, custody, and liquidity management transactions in Kazakhstan. She serves as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan and as a member of the Governing Board of the Kazakhstan Foreign Investors’ Council Association. In recognition of her contributions to Kazakhstan’s financial sector, Saule was awarded the Jubilee Medal "30 Years of the Tenge" in 2023 and the Qurmet Order in 2025. In 2026, she received the Best CEO in Leadership Award from the Kazakhstan Growth Forum, recognizing outstanding leadership, sustained business performance, and contributions to Kazakhstan’s economic development and investment ecosystem. Saule holds master’s degrees from HEC Paris (France) and the International Academy of Business (Kazakhstan), as well as a degree in Finance and Credit from the Kazakh Management Academy (Kazakhstan).
