Professor Xinbin Ma, NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar, is an expert in C1 chemical engineering, focusing on key scientific challenges in the conversion of synthesis gas to valuable oxygenates and CO₂ capture and utilisation. He has published over 400 peer- reviewed publications and holds 8 granted international patents (e.g., US, EU) and 89 Chinese ones. His developed technologies have been successfully implemented commercially, with a total capacity exceeding 9 million tons/year. Professor Ma has achieved significant success in managing research and educational collaborations. He is director of a recently established Xinjiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Clean Coal Conversion and Chemical Processes, delivering substantial staff exchanges (particularly for Xinjiang) and sustained institutional strengthening for all participating partners. Professor Ma has also led multiple research platforms (e.g., Key Area Innovation Team, MOST; Key Laboratory for Green Chemical Technology, MOE), developing transferable models of governance and funding that support shared success.
