Yerlan Sydykov (born on 29 February 1956) is a Kazakh historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since July 2011, he has served as Rector of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Prior to this, he headed Shakarim State University of Semey for many years. He is the author of numerous fundamental works on the history of Kazakhstan and the biographies of its prominent historical figures. In recognition of his significant contribution to the development of national science and education, he was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Figure of Kazakhstan.”
