SRMIST is ranked 11th among approximately 1,000 universities in India by the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2025). It is ranked by QS under various categories and has been awarded the prestigious QS I-GAUGE Platinum Rating. In addition, the subjects of Architecture, Pharmacy, and Medicine have received the Platinum Plus Rating, and Dentistry has been awarded the Platinum Rating.

SRMIST is ranked in the 8–9 band in the Shanghai Ranking – ARWU (2025) and is placed 22nd in India under the Nature Index Ranking for the one-year cycle ending September 2025. The University’s SCOPUS h-index stands at 180.

Under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), SRMIST is ranked 136 worldwide and 4th in India by UI GreenMetric, Indonesia. Its QS World University Ranking 2025 places SRMIST at 637 globally, 173 in Asia, and 19 in India. The main campus of SRMIST is ISO 14001:2015 certified. Four undergraduate programmes in Engineering and Technology offered at the Kattankulathur campus are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA, and eight undergraduate and three postgraduate programmes are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), which operates under the Washington Accord.
