Sunway University has entered into a new commercial partnership with QS Quacquarelli Symonds to enhance international student recruitment for its undergraduate programmes, creating a more connected, data-informed and student-centred approach to engaging prospective learners across global markets.
QS will support Sunway University across the international recruitment journey, covering international leads, prospects, applicants and offer-holders for Sunway University undergraduate programmes. This partnership also supports Malaysia’s wider ambition to become a key international education hub.
“We are delighted to partner with a modern, forward-thinking institution like Sunway University,” Selma Toohey, QS Senior Vice President, University Services said. “Malaysia has become one of the world's fastest-growing and most compelling destinations for international students, and Sunway stands out for the exceptional care and outcomes it delivers for every student it serves. This partnership is about more than recruitment. It is about giving more students around the world access to the quality of Malaysian higher education that Sunway represents. We look forward to a long and successful partnership built on that shared ambition.”
How Sunway University is partnering QS to strengthen international student recruitment
The partnership is designed to strengthen Sunway’s visibility in key international markets while improving how prospective students are identified, engaged, supported and converted from initial enquiry through to enrolment. QS will support with lead generation, recruitment events, in-country representation, enquiry management, offer conversion and reconciliation reporting.
As part of the lead generation strategy, QS will help expand Sunway’s digital presence through the QS digital ecosystem and third-party websites, develop lead-capture marketing collateral, deliver targeted email activity, publish sponsored content across QS media and support lead capture across Sunway’s website where required.
A key feature of the partnership is dedicated in-country representation. QS will provide up to four representatives based in strategic student recruitment markets, wholly dedicated to Sunway University to meet the growing demand of international students wishing to study in Malaysia.
For Sunway, the partnership creates an integrated recruitment infrastructure that combines digital marketing, market presence and operational student support. For prospective students, it is intended to deliver a more responsive experience, with QS providing proactive enquiry management to future Sunway students across all major digital platforms, as well as by telephone.
QS supports prospective Sunway students at every stage, from first enquiry through to enrolment. Working across email, phone and digital channels, QS guides students through their decision-making, builds relationships as they move from interest to application to acceptance, and responds efficiently to requests for advice and assistance, all with the aim of improving offer-to-enrolment conversion. These interactions also give Sunway valuable market insight, including a clearer understanding of what drives students to choose Sunway, helping the university support every learner who wants to study and reach their ambitions there.
Why end-to-end international recruitment matters for universities
Institutions are increasingly looking for end-to-end models that connect brand awareness, lead generation, in-country engagement, enquiry handling, conversion and performance measurement. Sunway’s collaboration with QS positions the university to engage international prospects with greater consistency across the recruitment funnel while generating stronger market feedback to inform future activity.
Together, Sunway University and QS aim to build a scalable international recruitment platform that supports student choice, strengthens engagement in strategic markets and improves the visibility of Sunway’s undergraduate offering to prospective students worldwide.
