Armenia and QS partner to drive innovation and excellence at Armenian universities

QS Quacquarelli Symonds and the government of Armenia have announced a strategic partnership to strengthen the country’s higher education ecosystem and raise its reputation for research and teaching globally.

The agreement between Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, the “Academic City” Fund and QS was signed in August.

Over three and a half years, the programme will utilise QS’s data, benchmarking tool and strategic performance insights to transform Armenia’s higher education system and implement the Academic City Project – the country’s groundbreaking educational hub on the outskirts of Yerevan, designed to foster innovation, research, and collaboration.

QS will also offer institutional development roadmaps and advisory support, as universities seek to strengthen the international competitiveness and visibility of Armenian universities and compete for positions among the world’s top 500 universities.

The higher education experts will also help policymakers and institutions to align the higher education system with national priorities and global benchmarks.

Armenia has already set out innovative plans to expand practical teaching and work-based learning that aligns to the needs of the country and regional industry. QS Labor Market Intelligence, coupled with proprietary data sets around curricula and higher education will complement and help realise these ambitions.

The experience helping higher education to evolve and adapt to changes in social and industrial shifts that QS has accrued over 30+ years will also offer unique insights and guidance for the mission to increase the number of state-funded universities to eight, as well as developing the Academic City Project into a hub for quality higher education and science.
